These Nutella crescent rolls are so easy to make! They have a rich chocolate hazelnut filling and buttery crescent rolls around them.

Crescent rolls with chocolate Nutella
I found the best Sunday breakfast for you.
A thick layer of Nutella is spread on a flaky crescent roll crust, and then the roll is rolled up into a sweet chocolate pastry that melts in your mouth.
Everyone will be impressed if you serve them hot from the oven to overnight guests or as part of a fancy weekend brunch.
Crescents filled with homemade Nutella are the best comfort food for breakfast.

Ingredients for Nutella crescent rolls
There are only two things you need for the recipe.
If you want a dessert that tastes like a chocolate croissant from a bakery, you can use plain chocolate spread or chocolate almond butter instead of Nutella.
Most big grocery stores, like Target, Wegmans, and Whole Foods, have unbaked crescent rolls in the refrigerated section.
I like Annie’s, Trader Joe’s Organic, or Immaculate Baking because they don’t have hydrogenated oils, fake flavors, or preservatives. A lot of brands, like Pillsbury, are vegan by accident.
If you want to be ambitious, make your own dough instead of buying crescent rolls that are already made. Use gluten-free crescent roll dough to make gluten-free Nutella crescent rolls.
You can use puff pastry or gluten-free puff pastry instead of the crescent roll dough. Spread Nutella on each sheet of puff pastry to make Nutella twists or triangles. After that, follow the directions on the puff pastry package for baking.
Ingredients
- 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls (8 oz)
- 1/3 cup Nutella or Homemade Nutella
- optional chopped hazelnuts, powdered sugar, or melted chocolate chips for garnish see above for additional flavor ideas

How to make the recipe for breakfast, lunch, or dinner
One of my favorite Nutella recipes is this one because it’s so easy to make.
It’s also great for people who have an extra package of crescent rolls and want to try making crescent roll dough.
- To begin, turn the oven on to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Take the crescent dough out of the can and break it along the seams to make triangles. Or, if you’re using homemade pastry dough, cut it into thin triangles.
- Put the dough on a baking sheet. I suggest putting parchment paper on the tray so that it will be easier to clean up later.
- Put about two teaspoons of the chocolate hazelnut spread on top of each pastry.
- You can also add toppings now if you want to.
- To make crescents, roll the dough up from either the wide or thin end.
- Put the recipe on the middle rack of the oven and bake it for twelve minutes.
- If you want, you can carefully melt a bowl of chocolate chips while they bake. Add a teaspoon of oil to the melted chips to make the sauce smoother.
- If you want, you can drizzle melted chocolate on each finished Nutella pastry. You can also sprinkle powdered sugar on top of the Nutella desserts while they are still warm.
- Eat it hot, then put any leftovers in a container that won’t let air in and leave it on the counter. You can take these Nutella rolls to parties or events because they don’t need to be kept cold.
- You can serve them for breakfast on Christmas, brunch on New Year’s Day, or dessert on Valentine’s Day. They taste great all year long and have less than 120 calories each!
How to do it
- Preheat the oven to 350 F. (There is also an air fryer baking method included above.)
- Cut the dough at the seams to make triangles. Put on a baking sheet that has parchment paper on it.
- Spread about two teaspoons of Nutella onto each triangle, then add any optional toppings of choice.
- Roll up into crescents.
- Bake 12 minutes or until golden.
- If desired, drizzle with melted chocolate and powdered sugar.
- Store leftovers in a covered container. These Nutella crescent rolls do not need to be refrigerated.
Nutella croissants made in an air fryer
You can use an air fryer instead of an oven to make this recipe. Here’s how to do it.
- As you make the crescent rolls, set the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Put the rolls in the air fryer basket in one layer, making sure there is space between each roll. You might have to do this in two batches, depending on how big your machine is.
- Cook for five minutes or until they turn golden.
See the video above for a step-by-step recipe.

Ideas for tasty flavors
- Banana Cinnamon: Put a few banana slices or one small piece of banana lengthwise at the widest part of the crescent dough. Roll it up and bake it. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on the chocolate banana crescent rolls while they are still warm.
- Chocolate Strawberry: Cut strawberries into small pieces and add them to the dough. After baking or frying, add melted chocolate and, if you want, freeze-dried strawberry powder on top.
- Cheesecake: To make Nutella pastries that taste like a chocolate cream cheese Danish, spread a thin layer of cream cheese on top of a thin layer of chocolate hazelnut spread.
- Peanut Butter Cup: This is one of my favorite kinds. Use creamy or crunchy peanut butter or almond butter instead of half the Nutella in the recipe.
- Double Chocolate Chip: On top of the crescent roll dough and Nutella, sprinkle regular or mini-sized semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips.
- S’mores: Before rolling up, put a few mini marshmallows on top of the chocolate layer. You can sprinkle crushed graham crackers on top if you want. Hey there, Nutella s’mores!
- Raspberry: Spread a thin layer of raspberry jam or fresh mashed raspberries on top of the chocolate dessert, and it will taste like a Godiva raspberry truffle. You can also use this same idea to make rolls with chocolate, blueberries, cherries, pomegranates, or blackberries.
- Chocolate Coconut: Before you roll up the dough, add a handful of shredded coconut to make your own mini Mounds bar Nutella rings.
- Chocolate Orange: Add the zest of one orange to the top of the chocolate hazelnut filling. Add more orange zest to the finished rolls as a garnish.
