What’s great about this recipe is it’s super easy, totally hands off and crazy versatile.

If you’re like me and you often forget to take the chicken out and it’s still frozen, you can start right with frozen chicken right in the Instant Pot and just add a little time.

  • boneless skinless chicken breast
    • fresh
    • chicken thighs
    • frozen chicken
  • chicken broth
    • water
    • salsa
    • hot sauce
    • barbecue sauce
  • a little sea salt
  • black pepper

  1. Take the lid off our Instant Pot and dump our chicken right in.
  2. Dump that right in over the chicken.
  3. Season it with just a little sea salt and black pepper.
  4. Make sure you get it all in there.
  5. Put the lid on.
  6. Make sure if you’re using your Instant Pot that you have it to sealing so that it creates the pressure in the Instant Pot and get our song, make sure it’s sealed.
  7. Set this for 15 minutes.
  8. Set it manual and at high pressure, take it down to 15 minutes.
  9. I let the pressure release naturally, but if you’re in a rush, you could do it manually.
  10. Take the lid off.

  • If you want to add smoky paprika or Italian seasoning, Mexican spices or chili chili powder and mix up the flavorings, it’s really the sky’s the limit in terms of what you can do.
  • I like the option to flavor later and season it based on how we’re using it throughout the week.

  • If you’re making shredded chicken weekend and week out, like we are for our meal prepping, as a little time saver, as a kitchen hack, this baby is my best friend.
  • Instead of shredding each breast by hand, I just hack them in half or in thirds and they get dropped right in here.
  • It will take the chunks right in.
  • With your paddle attachment on and a low medium speed, this is going to take about 30 seconds and your chicken will get shredded instantly.
